HOW CAN YOU PREPARE FOR YOUR FIRST VISIT?
​
Wear loose, comfortable clothing, bring your curiosity and questions, a sense of wonder, and a desire to feel and look your best. It is strongly recommended that you do not attend your first Acupuncture treatment on an empty stomach; however try not to eat a large meal or engage in vigorous physical activity just before (and just after) your treatment. Also, do not consume alcohol or drugs at least 6 hours before (and after) your treatment. Upon your first visit, you may be asked questions about your and your family's medical history, as well as diet, lifestyle and occupation. I am happy to check if your medical insurance can pay for all or part of the treatment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO ACUPUNCTURE NEEDLES HURT?
​
Good Question! While every individual is different and will have a different reaction to the treatment, most patients experience little to no pain or discomfort. Needles typically used in Acupuncture are so thin and fine (barely thicker than a hair) that insertion barely feels like a pinprick. After needles are inserted, you may feel a slight numbness, heat or cold, a dull ache or heaviness in the area (albeit not necessarily all of these sensations). Those are all normal reactions - it means the treatment is working and your Qi is being properly stimulated.

HOW SAFE IS THE OFFICE VISIT?

Very safe. I take every precaution to ensure patient safety during the visit and treatment. Only single-use disposable sterile needles are used. All surfaces are thoroughly disinfected and cleaned between patients.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED BEFORE SEEING RESULTS?
​
Each individual case and patient is unique, and I create an individualized treatment plan (normally during the first-visit consultation) based on your specific needs and symptoms. Each person responds to treatments differently, and may need more or fewer treatments before noticeable results manifest. Most TCM patients go for treatment at least weekly, and on average experience has shown that lasting improvement begins showing after five visits. That being said, you may feel relief right away after your first treatment. I encourage all patients to keep notes on how they feel before and after each treatment, and I am always happy to discuss your progress with you.
